(May 16, 2011- Sacramento, CA.-) Sacramento Gold FC (2-2-2) traveled to Southern California to face off against Hollywood United FC on Saturday, May 14 2011 and against SD Flash the following day.
With 6 points up for grabs, Sacramento managed to pull away from both encounters with a single point. After tying Hollywood United FC 1-1, the Gold lost against SD Flash 1-3.

After the long weekend team General Manager Ruben Mora Sr. commented, “It was a long road trip for us. Along with these factors we did not have a lot of our core team travel. This doesn’t excuse our performance but it does make a difference.”  Mora Sr, further added, ” I am proud of the guys that played their hearts out.”

Aside from the unfavorable turnout,  Mora Sr. complemented the play of Abrahm Prado. In his first year with the Gold, Prado managed to score both of the Sacramento goals.
“Abrahm did well for us this weekend. He stepped up when we needed him…we would like  to see a lot more of that.”

Up next Sacramento will try to return to their winning ways as they get ready to host FC Hasental on Sunday, May 22, 2011at  River City High School. Kick off is set for 6 pm.

May 13, 11- Sacramento CA.-In their 1st season in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the SD Flash Soccer Club have taken on all comers and are undefeated in six matches. Next up: the SD Flash plays the Sacramento Gold, the 2010 Defending NPSL Champions. The Sacramento Gold have had a decent campaign this year with a 2 – 1– 1 record. However, this weekend will be tough for them. They travel toSouthern California to play back-to-back matches against… Hollywood United on Saturday and then SD Flash on Sunday.
Fox Soccer Channel (FSC) apparently is intrigued enough by the scenario that they are sending a TV crew to cover the match in San Diego. Host Keith Costigan is slated to be the reporter for the match. Then FSC will show coverage of the match the following week on ‘Fox Soccer Report’ (which airs 4 times a week) and during ‘Fox Super Sunday Plus’ (the 2 hr live highlight show). This week is special because it is during the final weekend of the English Premier League and typically millions of people will be watching.
CEO of SD Flash Soccer Club; Clent Alexander stated, “This is a huge opportunity for our Club, the Sacramento Gold and the National Premier Soccer League to be in front of tens of millions of soccer fans around the world. Through the hard work of everyone in our organization and support of our investors, is how we find ourselves in this unique position. I believe we will represent San Diego and the NPSL well. We thank FSC for their interest in covering this match.”
