July 18, 2011- Sacramento CA—The defending National Premiere Soccer League Champions Sacramento Gold FC (9-3-4) lost 0-1 to Hollywood United FC (11-1-2) on Saturday July 16, 2011 in Southern California. After suffering two early red cards, Sacramento had to play the majority of the encounter with 9 players. Hollywood capitalized off of the circumstance and thus crowned themselves Northwest Division Champions while earning a trip to the NPSL Final Four Championship in Mobile, Alabama.

The loss eliminated Sacramento from pursuing their second NPSL Championship in as many years.

After a long 2011 campaign Sacramento Gold FC began to peak late in the season. Coach Ruben Mora Jr. praised his team and the overall effort put forth by all involved.  Stating,
“The team began to gel together with every game that passed. We began to look like the championship caliber team as the season progressed.  Unfortunately, we could not overcome the two player ejections…..overall I’m proud of the team.”

In addition, we would like to thank all of the staff, coaches, and players for representing Sacramento well during the first two seasons.  As a result of all the hard work Sacramento Gold FC was able to take positive strides as it continues to solidify itself as a national contender.

Thanks for all the support and for keeping the dream alive………..
