SACRAMENTO GOLD BLOWS EARLY LEAD AS THEY FALL TO FC HASENTAL
(May 23, 2011) –West Sacramento CA.- The defending NPSL Champions Sacramento Gold FC (2-2-3) hosted FC Hasental (3-1-4) on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at River City High School. In their second home game of the season Sacramento started off quick, but eventually fell short of the victory by a final score of 2-3
Sacramento struck early, as the home side took a 1-0 lead after Forward Manolo Piña scored in the 14th minute of play. His goal elevated Sacramento’ performance for the remainder of the first half. Eventually in 45th minute of action Clemente “Bo” Fonseca dazzled the crowd with a nice little heel shot that left the Hesental defense motionless. Sacramento led 2-0 going into the halftime break.
The second half proved to be much different. While Sacramento squandered scoring opportunity after opportunity, FC Hasental gained momentum. Ultimately, Hasental found the back of the net in the 70th minute after Jose Garcia put the ball past the Sacramento defense. In dramatic fashion Hasental stepped up their game as they searched for the equalizer. Within a five-minute time span Hasental not only managed to tie the game in the 85th minute, but also eventually took a 3-2 lead in the 90th minute of action after back-to-back goals by Hasental mid-fielder Milan Radovich.
Sacramento had plenty of opportunities to score but the team noticed that a lead needs to be conserved. Manolo Piña added, “There is no reason why we should of lost….when we are up by one, two or three goals we need to keep it that way.”
In the end, Sacramento Gold FC had to swallow a tough 2-3 defeat, as the team searches for their first home win of the season.
Up next, Sacramento will host Sonoma County Sol on Sunday May 29, 2011 at River City High School. Kick off is scheduled for 6 pm.
