Sacramento Gold Soccer Team

On a very windy Saturday evening the 2010 NPSL Sacramento Gold Soccer team beat the North Coast Tsunami by a score of 1 to 0. The Gold’s only goal of the evening was scored by John Jones off a throw in from Bo Fonseca in the 59th minute.  With this win, the Gold remains in first place in the Northern Division of the Western Conference.

The Gold’s next game is next game is next Saturday, June 16th at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.

The 2010 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Champions Sacramento Gold won its 2012 regular season opener against the North Coast Tsunami at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka today by a score of 5 to 3.

Manolo Pina opened the Gold’s scoring with a goal in the sixth minute, John Jones followed with a goal in the 12th minute and Abraham Prado added a third in the 18th minute. The Tsunami answered with a goal in the 20th minute, it’s only first-half score.

Each team scored twice in the second half. The Gold’s goals came from Bo Fonseca in the 65th minute and Jason Jones in the 74th minute. The Tsunami answered with two goals of its own, but couldn’t further narrow the gap.

The Gold’s next home game is on April 15th against the San Francisco Stompers at 7 p.m. at the River City High School Stadium in West Sacramento. Tickets are $5 and children under six are free. Youth soccer players wearing their uniforms are also admitted free.

The 2010 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Champions Sacramento Gold opens its 2012 season against the North Coast Tsunami at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka this Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m. The Tsunami will be seeking a reversal of fortune after a 5-1 loss to the Gold in the qualifying match for the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Tournament.

The Gold’s next home game is on April 15th against the San Francisco Stompers at 7 p.m. at the River City High School Stadium in West Sacramento.

The 2010 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Champions Sacramento Gold rolled over the Eureka Tsunami by a score of 5 to 1, Saturday night at River City High School, in West Sacramento.

Jason Jones scored four goals for the Gold and Manolo Pina added a fifth, sending the Gold into the North West Conference Finals next Saturday at the River City High School Stadium.   A win on Saturday earns the Gold a berth in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Jones opened the scoring for the Gold in the tenth minute off an assist by Abraham Prado.  Manolo Piña notched the Gold’s second score two minutes later, sending a free into the back of the net.   Jones scored two more goals in the first half, one in stoppage time, and added a fourth early in the second half,
Junior Reynoza notched the Tsunami’s lone goal in the 46th minute off an assist by Juan Reynoso.

The U.S. Open Cup is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States.  It’s open to all United States Soccer Federation affiliated teams from amateur adult clubs like the Gold to the professional clubs of Major League Soccer.  The top two tiers, Major League Soccer and the North American Soccer League, earn berths into the third and second rounds of the tournament respectively.  The third, fourth and fifth tiers of the tournament pyramid play in a series of qualification and state tournaments to determine the berths into the tournament. These teams will complete the 64-team field in the U.S. Open Cup.
