Sacramento Gold Soccer Team

Traveling to San Francisco, the Sacramento Gold lost to the San Francisco Stompers by a score of 1 to 0. The Stompers scored the game’s only goal early in the second half and then held off the Gold to secure the win.

The Gold’s next game is next Saturday, June 23, 2012 against the Bay Area Ambassadors.

In their regular season home opener, Sunday evening at River City High School, the Sacramento Gold easily handled the San Francisco Stompers by a score of 9 to 0.

Scoring first in the 22nd minute was Jason Jones off and assist by Manolo Piña. In the 29th minute Jones gave an assist to Piña for the Gold’s second goal. Jones scored his second goal off another assist by Piña in the 38th minute. Piña scored his second goal in the 45th minute off an assist by Bo Fonseca. In the
53rd minute Jones completed his hat trick by scoring his third goal off an assist by Pina. Two minutes later, Jones scored his fourth goal in the 55th minute off an assist by Adam Owens.

In the 59th minute, Anthony Chimienti score the Gold’s 7th goal off an assist from Jones. The Gold’s 8th goal came in the 64th minute when John Jones scored on a penalty kick. The Gold’s final goal came in the 91st minute when Eliot Chambers scored off an assist by Abrahm Prado.

The Gold’s next game is Sunday, April 21st in a rematch against the Bay Area Ambassadors. The Ambassadors narrowly defeated the Gold the last time they met, prevailing on penalty kicks, after the Gold, playing a man down for the final 60 minutes, scored the equalizer late in the game. .

Game time is 7 pm at River City High School in West Sacramento. Tickets are $5 and children under 6 and youth soccer players wearing their uniforms are free.

Come on out and root the Gold onto victory in what promises to be a very exciting game!
